Just when the world thought that the biggest problem that could ever occur for the crypto industry as of the moment is its challenge with the continues decline of the crypto prices, most especially in Bitcoin (BTC), a major accident from one of the most popular and used crypto exchanges has regrettably been done. Ever since the cryptocurrencies were introduced to us, it cannot be denied that there were numerous issues of hacking of exchanges and data breaching that created a panic to most people. Although, many were already filed against the businesses and companies that operate using cryptocurrencies and remedies were made sure to be done, the issues have already left its mark.
Because of this, crypto enthusiasts and investors are somehow always bugged by the thought that they could be just waiting for another crypto hack or data breach to take place. Also, with all the issues that has happened over the years, there has been more room for those against the technology to create negative sayings and comments towards the technology that had definitely paved the way for people to get carried away and get completely turned off with the technology as well.
Condition Of The Cryptocurrency World
What the cryptocurrency world is facing today is somehow becoming more serious according to analysts. This is why crypto investors are advised to be more careful in believing what they hear or read. Most especially with those that are only read online. Better make sure that the news you digest are from credible and reliable sources. If not, at least make sure that you did your part of research to assure yourself that what you know are facts.
What Happened To BitMEX
Just like what was mentioned above, a popular crypto exchange has recently faced an unexpected accident which sparked nervousness to their investors. The company is BitMEX, one of the most popular exchanges today, known for their 100-times leverage offer on trading.
What actually happened was that BitMEX accidentally exposed thousands of their user’s email addresses. It was explained that the crypto exchange unwillingly sent thousands of their user’s email addresses together with a weekly newsletter instead of sending only the newsletter. The said incident was supposed to be a BCC to their clients however it was CC-ed.
An Apology To The Users
BitMEX sent their apologetic Bericht right away and said that they already acted immediately to fix the incident. They have also said that they deeply understand the impact of what happened. Hence, they made sure that they are doing everything they could to make sure that they will track what are the real roots of the accident. BitMEX also made a promise to keep in touch with the affected users and to make sure to compromise with them. Moreover, they requested their users to use a two-factor authentication to assure their security .
As of the moment, the company is blaming a “bug” which caused the error that happened to their system.
Despite the claim of BitMex that they have already fixed the error and their focus would be on tracking down the roots, many negative sentiments are already all around the internet. And one thing could be really sure, this incident will indeed add on the current crisis that is being faced by the crypto market.
What are your thoughts? Are you shaken of these issues or you think that this is only part of the process since cryptos are still “growing”?
